I hope they don’t demolish the whole building! It has such potential, but I saw tonight on my way home from work that they have started to demolish the top story of the building. The address, 1417 Belmont Street, at one point was home to Van Cortland apartments, and is widely listed on the Internets as the address as a homeless shelter/medical center/ afterschool program, Community of Hope. Guess people are bad at updating their websites.
Any older DCers know more about the history of this building?
